The final tally of signatures to SAVE OUR ELDERLY CARE HOMES was nearly 4,500. Well done everyone. http://petitions.surreycc.gov.uk/SaveCareHomes/ The Consultation outcome and recommendations will be made public on 27th February. The Cabinet will then decide what to do on 10th March. SOSIS will be there protesting from 12.30pm at County Hall. Cabinet starts at 2pm and is open to the public. Today's Valentine Day protest and petitioning by Park Hall Care Home staff, relatives and supporters went really well. Well done everyone. Next SOSIS meeting on Monday 23 Feb at 7pm in Woking (see events page). Lobby the council cabinet on 10th March. Partly due to the impact of the campaign, Surrey County Council extended the deadline for consultation on the six care homes BY SIX WEEKS to 31st January. Their report to cabinet will be published on 27th February and go to a Special Cabinet meeting FOR DECISION on 10th March. Our petition will also be tabled at this meeting and Paul Couchman, secretary of SOSiS, will speak to the cabinet. THE DEADLINE FOR THE ONLINE AND PAPER PETITIONS HAS ALSO BEEN EXTENDED TO 20th February.
