The community meeting about the recent flooding organised by Spelthorne Council is on the evening of 5th June. You can register to attend here: http://www.spelthorne.gov.uk/flood-meeting
You also have the opportunity to submit a question. I have already submitted the following question:
"Around 1300 people were rescued by the emergency services during the floods. Why are Surrey County Council still planning on making cuts to the fire and rescue service in Spelthorne after the flooding showed the ongoing need for at least the same level of cover as we currently have."
The fight to defend our fire services is not over. Save Our Services in Surrey will be attending this meeting, bringing our petition for people to sign and keeping up the pressure on Surrey County Council and Spelthorne Borough Council to end their disastrous plan to cut fire and rescue safety levels in our area. If you can come and help with this that would be great. We will be outside the leisure Centre from about 4.50pm with our banner and petition sheets.
We still need more people to sign the petition so please circulate widely: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/flooding-shows-that-fire-service-cuts-are-a-mistake
If you want a copy of the petition which we are asking everyone to print copies of and to take around your friends, families, workplaces, residents associations, clubs, pubs etc. please email us. You can then send filled petition sheets back to the address on the sheets. We intend to keep the petition live until we have enough signatories to take it to the council and to make them listen.
