More than 100 local people lobbied outside the council meeting in Woking on 8th February, protesting at plans to decimate our public services. Whilst it is widely understood that the current ruling party on the council are not entirely responsible for the council's financial position - the fact that they are meekly following the government commissars' instructions without putting up a fight shows we need councillors with principles and with mettle. We need councillors who will say NO and force the government to negotiate a fairer funding settlement and write off the massive debts incurred by the previous Tory administration - without massive council tax hikes or cuts in services.
