Dear Brothers/Sisters
NSSN invites you to send delegates from your trade union body to NSSN Conference 2013 ‘March Together - Now Strike Together’.
The government’s austerity programme continues unabated by a cabinet of millionaires; workers’ jobs are axed; benefits cut back; and privatisation threatens a further deterioration in our basic services particularly in the health and social care. British workers will face a similar situation to our brothers and sisters in Greece, Portugal and Italy - unless a serious fightback is launched.
Last September the TUC overwhelmingly agreed to initiate the first moves towards a national co-ordinated 24-hour strike.
The NSSN aims to make this Conference a lively forum to discuss how workers in all unions can help take this campaign forward. Leading trade unionists and rank and file fighters will head up the main discussion as well as workshops including issues like housing, NHS, and organising the unorganised.
The NSSN was set up by the RMT in 2006 to help build and strengthen unions from the bottom up. In conjunction with trade unions we have initiated many activities, like the demo, rally and lobby of TUC in Brighton to press for support for mass strike action, that brought together almost 1000 union activists and supporters. (See our website for more information.)
Hundreds of shop stewards/workplace reps attend our conferences. Please try to ensure your trade union body is represented too.
